Lead Generation Data Tools — Contact Extraction, B2B Prospecting & CRM Enrichment
Welcome to the NexGenData lead-generation hub. This is the working library of pay-per-result scrapers, enrichment APIs and prospecting tools we use to build B2B contact lists, fill out CRMs, and run cold outbound campaigns without paying Apollo, ZoomInfo or Clearbit subscription fees.
Inside this category you’ll find tools that cover the full prospect-to-pipeline workflow: contact extraction (emails, phones, social handles from any domain), company enrichment (firmographics, funding, tech stack, news signals), email validation (SMTP-level verification to keep bounce rates under 2%), business directories (Google Maps, Yelp, Capterra, Apartments.com), and niche prospect lists for verticals like Shopify merchants, physicians, property managers and SaaS displacement targets.
Who actually uses this stuff? B2B sales reps and SDR teams building outbound lists, demand-gen and growth marketers running ABM plays, agency owners prospecting SMBs that need their service, recruiters sourcing hiring-signal accounts, and founders bootstrapping a Series A go-to-market without a six-figure data budget. If you’ve ever paid $15K/year for a seat-based prospecting tool, the actors below run on usage-based pricing — most cost a few dollars per thousand rows, run on demand, and never require a sales call to provision.
The category is organized around five jobs that any modern outbound team has to solve: discover the right accounts, enrich them with firmographics, extract named contacts, validate deliverability, and activate the list inside your sequencing tool. Each tool below maps cleanly to one of those steps. Mix and match them into a pipeline that fits your motion — local SMB agency, mid-market SaaS, niche vertical, ABM enterprise — without locking yourself into a single vendor’s worldview.
Common use cases
- Build a SaaS prospect list with verified emails — Capterra displacement leads piped into a contact-finder, then validated through a bulk email checker. End-to-end pipeline runs in under an hour.
- Source Shopify merchants for an app launch — find every store running a competitor app, scrape the store contact page, and reach out before they renew their annual plan.
- Find SMBs in a specific city + vertical — Google Maps and Yelp scrapers pull restaurants, dentists, gyms and contractors with phone and website attached, ready for an agency cold-call sprint.
- Enrich an existing CRM export with website, social and tech-stack data — upload your domain list, get back firmographics, headcount bands and decision-maker LinkedIn URLs in minutes.
- Identify competitive displacement opportunities from Capterra reviews — surface every 1- and 2-star reviewer of your competitor and turn their complaint into your cold-email hook.
- Surface hiring-signal intent — companies posting LinkedIn jobs for a role you sell into (e.g. “Head of RevOps”) are buying signals you can act on this week, weeks before they hit any commercial intent database.
- Build vertical lead lists for healthcare, real estate and influencer marketing — doctor directories, apartment-complex managers, brand-collab outreach pulled from the relevant public source of truth.
- Run cold-email campaigns with deliverability discipline — validate every address with SMTP-level checks before it hits your sending domain. Saves your sender reputation and your unit economics.

A note on selection: we’ve leaned heavily on actors that are battle-tested, actively maintained and priced in the cents-to-dollars-per-thousand-rows range. There are 800+ business-data actors on Apify; the ones above are the ones we actually deploy on real campaigns. If you have a niche the table doesn’t cover — e.g. solar installers, Y Combinator founders, German Mittelstand suppliers — search the Apify Store; there’s almost certainly a public actor for it.
Workflow example: building a 2,000-lead SaaS prospect list
Here’s a real, end-to-end pipeline you can run today for under $50 in actor spend. The use case: you sell a project-management SaaS and want to displace Asana and Monday.com users who are unhappy with their current tool.
- Source the displacement signal. Run Capterra Displacement Leads against your competitors. You get ~2,000 reviewer names plus company affiliations of users currently leaving 1- to 3-star reviews — the highest-intent prospects on the public web because they’ve literally typed “I’m unhappy with this product” into a public review form.
- Enrich the company list. Pipe the company names through Company Data Aggregator to get domains, industries, headcount bands and funding signals. Drop anyone outside your ICP (e.g. under 25 employees if you sell to mid-market) and keep the firmographics for personalization later.
- Crawl for contacts. Feed the qualified domains into Website Contact Extractor or Contact Email Finder to pull every public email and phone, including the named ones (founder, head of ops, CTO). Most domains will yield 2–5 contacts; some yield 20+.
- Validate every address. Run the resulting list through Bulk Email Validator. SMTP-level checks drop invalid, role-based, catch-all and disposable addresses. Expected good rate: 70–85%. The 15–30% you discard is the difference between a 1% and a 12% bounce rate.
- Export and send. Push the cleaned CSV into Outreach.io, Smartlead, HubSpot Sequences or Salesloft. Personalize the first line with the specific Capterra complaint pulled from step one (“Saw your review of Asana mentioning notification overload — we built our entire model around fixing that”) and you’ve got a campaign that reads like manual research at automation scale.
Total budget for a 2,000-lead campaign at the actor pricing above: typically $20–$50 end to end. The same list from Apollo + ZoomInfo seats costs ~$2,000/month minimum; from a B2B data broker, $0.50–$2.00 per record. The unit economics matter most when you scale — a 50,000-lead quarter that costs $1,000 in actor spend instead of $25,000 in vendor fees changes what’s profitable for outbound to even attempt.
The same five-step skeleton works for almost any outbound motion. Swap the source signal in step 1 (Yelp + city for local SMB; LinkedIn Jobs + role for hiring-signal; Shopify App Merchant Finder + competitor app for e-commerce; Apartments.com for proptech) and the rest of the pipeline stays identical.

Frequently asked questions
How is this different from Apollo or ZoomInfo?
Apollo and ZoomInfo are seat-based databases — you pay $10K–$50K/year for access to a frozen index they refresh on their schedule, with steep per-export caps and contract lock-in. The actors above are live web scrapers with pay-per-result pricing. You get fresher data (scraped the moment you run the actor instead of pulled from a database that was last enriched six months ago), no minimum commitment, and your costs scale with actual usage instead of seat count. The trade-off: you assemble the pipeline yourself instead of getting a single dashboard. Most teams find that’s a fair trade once they realize how often Apollo’s data is stale and how rarely they actually use 80% of the seats they’re paying for.
Are the emails verified?
Contact-finder actors return emails as they appear on the public web, which means some will be role-based, stale or catch-all. That’s why every workflow above ends with Bulk Email Validator — SMTP-level verification typically drops 15–30% of raw scrapes. A well-built pipeline lands in the 1–3% hard-bounce range, which is what mailbox providers expect for legitimate outbound. Skip the validation step and you’ll burn your sending domain in a week.
Can I run this at SDR-team scale?
Yes. Apify actors run concurrently in the cloud, so a 10-person SDR team building 200-lead lists each per week is well within the platform’s scale envelope. Most actors handle 10K–100K rows per run comfortably; for million-row jobs you split into batches and run them in parallel across multiple actor runs. There are no per-seat fees on the data side — pricing is purely usage-based, so adding a new SDR adds zero fixed cost. Your actual bottleneck becomes the sequencer (Outreach/Salesloft seat count), not the data layer.
What’s the per-lead cost?
Highly workflow-dependent. A simple Google Maps + email-finder + validation pipeline lands around $0.01–$0.05 per qualified lead. Deeper enrichment (firmographics + tech stack + intent signals + verified named contact) runs $0.10–$0.30 per lead. Both numbers are 10–100× cheaper than buying records from a B2B data broker. For a typical 2,000-lead outbound campaign, you’ll spend $20–$200 in actor fees vs. $1,000–$4,000 from a broker.
Is this GDPR compliant?
Scraping publicly available B2B contact data is generally permitted under GDPR’s legitimate-interest basis, but compliance is about how you use the data, not just how you collect it. You’re responsible for honoring opt-outs, providing a clear lawful basis in outreach, suppressing EU contacts who request deletion, and following CAN-SPAM / CASL / PECR for the destination jurisdiction. None of these actors emit personal data they didn’t find on the public web, but the compliance burden of using B2B contact data downstream is on you, not on the scraper vendor. If you’re operating in regulated industries or at enterprise scale, build a suppression list and a clear opt-out path before you ramp volume.
Can I pipe results into HubSpot or Salesforce?
Yes. Every actor outputs JSON and CSV, and Apify integrates with Zapier, n8n, Make and direct webhooks. The standard pattern is: actor finishes → webhook fires → Zap pushes new contacts into HubSpot/Salesforce/Pipedrive with custom field mapping. For high-volume teams, you skip Zapier and post directly to the CRM API — Apify also exposes a REST API for the dataset, so a nightly cron job that pulls the latest run and upserts into your CRM is a 30-minute script. The Apify Store also has dedicated CRM-sync actors if you’d rather not write the integration yourself.
Ready to build your first list?
Pick one actor from the table above that matches your highest-intent prospect signal — Capterra displacement for SaaS, Google Maps for SMB local, Shopify Merchant Finder for e-commerce app launches, Apartments.com for proptech, LinkedIn Jobs for hiring-signal outbound — and run it for ten dollars. You’ll have a working sample list in under an hour. From there, layer in contact discovery and email validation and you’re shipping campaigns by end of week.
New to Apify? Every actor linked here runs from a single dashboard with a generous free tier — no credit card needed to test the pipeline. Create a free Apify account, paste a target list, and have your first verified prospect file before lunch. The whole point of usage-based pricing is that you can prove the workflow on a $5 test run before you scale it to a $500 production run.
